The Story Behind the Name “Holland Beach”

There is a very nice story behind the name “Holland Beach”, or “Hollandali Ahmet’ in Yeri” (Dutch Ahmet’s Place).

in 1980 or so a famous Turkish chef who lived in Holland for years visits Marmaris and falls in love with the place. This famous Turkish Chef is called Mr. Ahmet. He decides to live in Marmaris and purchases the beachfront land at the bay called “Kumlubuku”, where “Kumlubuku Yacht Club” is located now.

He builds his little lovely house up the little hill and he opens his nice little restaurant to cater to only yachting clients. In very short time this place becomes so well-known among the yachting and elite community.

His restaurant is still open up to this date and run by his son. Mr. Ahmet, unfortunately passed away and left unforgettable memories & a fantastic place for Marmaris.
