Marmaris to Pamukkale Tour
“Cleopatra’s Swimming Pool” and “Cotton Castle”!
Marmaris Pamukkale Tour, will add a little spice to your Marmaris vacation. Taking the excursion from Marmaris to Pamukkale is a MUST if you have never been there. Pamukkale translates in to English as “Cotton-Castle”. The main attraction of Pamukkale is it’s “Rich Thermal Springs” which flows down the mountain hills for thousands of years and forms white, snow-like mineral pools and cascade of travertines. You might have remorse if you leave Marmaris without visiting Pamukkale (cotton-castle).
Pamukkale is included in “The UNESCOs World Heritage Sites” in 1988. UNESCO values Pamukkale’ s rare, fine white travertines and the ancient, historic values of the ancient city of Pamukkale
Marmaris Pamukkale tour is very unique. You will also see some ancient sites like famous “The ancient town of Hierapolis” and sometime during the day you will have free time to swim in “the Mineral Pool of Cleopatra” with history in it. Mother-nature worked hard to create this attraction.

Pamukkale Travertines
Pamukkale travertines, cascading steps that are actually small pool terraces created by the thermal waters flowing down the fill for thousands of years. This mountain is the main attraction of this excursion. This hill can be clearly seen from the distance when you arrive to Pamukkale in the bus.
These cascades of little pools (ponds) are filled with natural thermal waters that flow from the top of the mountain. In the pool you can also feel soft white mud like formations. They both, the thermal water and the mud are both good for the health and beauty of your skin.
The water in the pool combined with the white snow like travertine created a turquoise color contrast reflection on the water. Such a gorgeous feel.
You will have free time to enjoy this thermal therapy, swim in the water and take advantage of health benefits, take some pictures to make your friends jealous, relax in them and make your skins a favor.
Please note: You have to go into these pools barefoot to protect the travertines. No shoes allowed.
City of Hierapolis (the Holy City):
Next to explore, after experiencing the travertines is “the ancient city of Hierapolis”. Just minutes away from the travertines, this ancient city of Hierapolis is believed to be build in the 2nd century BC. The Romans and Byzantines has lived in this city and therefore it shows the characteristics of both emperor cultures. Such as baths, theaters, columns, streets, mosaics, ruins, statutes etc. UNSECO has a “UNESCO World Heritage Site” here which you can visit
The Pool of Cleopatra
Next, after visiting “the City of Hierapolis”, you will have a chance to swim in “the Pool of Cleopatra” – the Queen of the Ancient Egypt.
At the top of the “cotton-castle” travertines, there is a lake-like pool, also filled with healthy mineral water. You will see lots of ruins, ancient stones in the pool. It is believed that the columns were collapsed in an earthquake. It is believed that Cleopatra was swimming in this pool because of the water’s healing power and health benefits.
P.S: You MUST Pay to swim in this pool. It is NOT Included in the excursion price.
Other places of Interest:
If you are interested, there are a few more places of interest that you can explore as you wish at your free time. Some are “Roman Amphitheater”, “Tomb of St. Philip”, “the Magnificent Necropolis of Anatolia”, “The Historical Museum – formerly Turkish Baths ” etc.

Pick-up and Departure: You will be picked up from your hotel between 6:00-7:00 a.m.
Departure and Breakfast: After departure, you will arrive to a restaurant for breakfast near Muğla province, which is about 45 minutes away.
Arriving to Pamukkale: Enjoy your about 3 hours of free time in Pamukkale. Go to the travertines – Take pictures, swim, relax your body and mind. Visit the Holy City of Hierapolis (described above) Swim in “the Ancient Pool of Cleopatra”.
Returning back to Marmaris: At about 16:30 you will take your bus to get back to Marmaris. Arrival back to Marmaris will be around 20:00 p.m.
